Fantasy Football Potential – Leander Dendoncker

Leander Dendoncker has signed for Wolves from Anderlecht on a season long loan, with the view to become permanent in the 2019 summer transfer window. Wolves had a busy transfer window, with Dendoncker being their 11th signing of the window.

Leander Dendoncker has international experience with Belgium, as he played 33 games at youth levels and has played 6 games at senior level. He did make one appearance in the World Cup, with it being the 1-0 victory over England in the Group stage.

Here’s what Dendoncker told Wolves TV on his move to the Premier League side:

“It’s a dream for every player to play in the Premier League. I hope I can help the team as fast as possible. This is the biggest league in the world so it’s very nice to play every week in here. They told me if I come here I will become a better player so we’ll see, I’m very excited to start.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (4.5m)

Dendoncker plays either as a defensive midfielder or as a centre back. He was a one club man, having played 171 games for Anderlecht in the Belgian leagues, scoring on 11 times and assisting another 4. The 23 year old has experience in the Champions League and was also key to Anderlecht’s title winning campaign in 2016/17.

Dendoncker has been priced at £4.5m in Fantasy Premier League, whilst classified as a midfielder, so will miss out on any clean sheet points. Due to his defensive nature, it is unlikely that he will bring in too many fantasy points, but is likely to improve the potential for clean sheets for Wolves.

Wolves’ next five fixtures are; Leicester (A), Manchester City (H), West Ham (A), Burnley (H) and Manchester United (A). These next five are a bit of a mixed bag and could be tough for Wolves. That said, with the limitations of Dendoncker’s points potential, it may be worth seeing how he settles in before jumping on the Belgian.
