Fantasy Football Potential – Ramadan Sobhi

Huddersfield have signed Stoke midfielder Ramadan Sobhi for a fee in the region of £6 million. The Egyptian international spent a bit of his summer in Russia with his national team, but the Egyptians failed to get out of group, losing all three of their matches.

Ramadan Sobhi has scored a solitary goal for his country in 28 caps which came against Nigeria in AFCON qualification. Sobhi’s career at Stoke never really had lift off. He played 41 Premier League games for the Potters scoring just twice, one of which coming against Huddersfield.

Huddersfield Head Coach David Wagner commented:

“I’m very happy that we will be able to welcome Ramadan Sobhi to Huddersfield Town. He’s a real talent and has achieved a lot for a player who is only 21 years old, playing over 20 times for his country ahead of this summer’s World Cup.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.0m)

Sobhi has been priced at £5.0m which is what you would expect for an attacking midfielder for Huddersfield. He is the exact price as the other attack minded midfielders at Huddersfield and will seemingly be in direct competition with Tom Ince who had a slightly disappointing season.

They both scored twice and set up one last season, but Sobhi played over a thousand less minutes so it would be a tough call as to who Wagner will select come August. I believe Sobhi will get the nod despite Ince being with the Terriers longer.

Huddersfield’s first five fixtures are as follows: Chelsea (H), Manchester City (A), Cardiff (H), Everton (A) and Crystal Palace. It is a very torrid start for Huddersfield and the likes of Sobhi will struggle to find a place in your starting elevens for the first couple of weeks.
