Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Mexican striker Raul Jimenez on a season long loan deal from Portuguese side Benfica. Jimenez has spent part of his summer in Russia with Mexico as they reached the round of 16 going out to Brazil.
Also with Mexico, Jimenez competed in the London 2012 Olympics and they came out with a gold medal for their troubles. However his club career has failed to lift off as of late with 18 goals in his last three seasons.
Mexican football expert Martin del Palacio on Jimenez:
“I think he’s more suited to the Premier League than the Portuguese and Spanish leagues. The Premier League is a fast league where physical attributes count, and he’s very strong so I think is well suited. If used correctly he can thrive there I think.”
Fantasy Premier League Potential (5.5m)
Jimenez has been priced at £5.5m and people are already snapping him up. As of now 3.7% of Fantasy Premier League managers own the Wolves forward which is high conserving he has never played in the Premier League before and he’s playing for a recently promoted side.
I believe that Jimenez’s reasonably high ownership is justified. Looking at the calibre of teams he has played for and the team Wolves have, they should be able to make the top half which could see Jimenez reach double figures and beyond.
Wolves’ first five fixtures are as follows: Everton (H), Leicester (A), Manchester City (H), West Ham (A) and Burnley (H). It’s a challenging start for Wolves but I can see them getting at least five points from these matches.
