Fantasy Premier League Preview – Gameweek 9 – FPL Tips

Gameweek 8 was host to some great fixtures and after what feels like a long international break, we welcome the return of the Premier League this weekend. With preparing your team in mind and as the competition moves into its 9th gameweek, let’s assess where the points opportunities are for this upcoming gameweek.

Good luck and may your arrows be green!

Chelsea vs Manchester United

We come right back from the international break to a cracker of a contest with two of the league giants going head to head in the lunch time kick off. Man Utd come into this on the back of an exceptional Fergie time comeback against the Toon, while on the contrary the Blues have been exceptional from the very start of this season. Mourinho will need to think outside the box if he is to get a result against his former employers.

STAR MAN: Eden Hazard (11.3m)

With the form he’s in, the United defence will find it difficult to contain him.

PREDICTION: Chelsea 2-1 Manchester United

Bournemouth vs Southampton

The Cherries have begun the season on the front foot as they sit 6th on the table. This time around they’re up against a not so impressive Saints side and with the home crowd behind them, the Cherries should easily grab the win.

STAR MAN: Callum Wilson (6.4m)

A goal & 3 assists in the last 2 games. He will be hoping to build on that.

PREDICTION: Bournemouth 2-0 Southampton

Cardiff vs Fulham

Both Fulham & Cardiff will have been wishing for a better start this season as they sit around the relegation spots. Both of these teams desperately need a win, but with the firepower Fulham have up front, they might just edge this one.

STAR MAN: Aleksander Mitrovic (6.9m)

The Serbian will need to fire if his side are to take home the 3 points.

PREDICTION: Cardiff 0-1 Fulham

Manchester City vs Burnley

This fixture doesn’t really need an introduction. A rampant win seems to be on the cards for Pep and his boys.

STAR MAN: Sergio Aguero (11.3m)

Surely the preferred captain choice for this gameweek.

PREDICTION: Manchester City 4-0 Burnley

Newcastle vs Brighton

This 3pm kick off involves 2 really attack minded sides coming up against one another. Both these sides are in dire need of the points, and this could bring the best out of both of them. An end to end game seems likely.

STAR MAN: Glen Murray (6.6m)

With just 2.7% ownership, he could be the perfect differential over the coming weeks.

PREDICTION: Newcastle 1-1 Brighton

West Ham vs Tottenham

A London derby and there might be a lot of drama waiting to unfold in this fixture. Spurs have been winning regularly after their stutter and seem to be more confident. Despite holding the home advantage, West Ham will need to be on their best form in order to overcome this Tottenham team.

STAR MAN: Harry Kane (12.5m)

A big return is certainly on the cards right now.

PREDICTION: West Ham 1-3 Tottenham

Wolves vs Watford

Wolves have been surprise performers so far this season, having managed to rack up 15 points already. They are currently unbeaten in five games and will look to extend this run further. Watford this season have also been terrific and find themselves just two points below their opposition and hence a victory would propel them up the table.

STAR MAN: Jonathan Castro Otto (4.5m)

Will be a very cagey game and he will be at the centre of the proceedings.

PREDICTION: Wolves 0-0 Watford

Huddersfield vs Liverpool

Huddersfield have been poor so far this season and haven’t made much impact. Liverpool are in good form and this seems like it’ll be a rather straightforward fixture for them. There only seems to be one obvious winner in this game.

STAR MAN: Mohamed Salah (12.8m)

He is certainly due a big one this game and will look to score and get back to his best.

PREDICTION: Huddersfield 0-3 Liverpool

Everton vs Crystal Palace

Everton finally seem to be clicking with back to back wins in their last two games. They have been very well drilled tactically and can handle the attacking threat from the Eagles with their defence. If they defend well, Palace stand no chance of getting the three points from this game.

STAR MAN: Gylfi Sigurdsson (7.4m)

He has played well in recent games and this might be the time for him to prove his worth for his side with another great performance.

PREDICTION: Everton 2-1 Crystal Palace

Arsenal vs Leicester

The Gunners have been in unbelievable form, having won their last seven games in the league. Leicester have caused problems in the past at the Emirates but this time around, Emery and his men will be confident of registering another victory and win their 8th straight game in a row.

STAR MAN: Alexandre Lacazette (9.5m)

Has been in great form and will look to kick on from here.

PREDICTION: Arsenal 3-1 Leicester
