Gameweek 25 Sky Preview – Fantasy Football Tips

It’s been 11 days since the start of the last gameweek and within that time, every team played twice. With Liverpool’s potential 3 games for one (and still a 2 for 1 potential), I’m sure a lot of transfers were used up in GW24. I’d advise not using anymore transfers before the overhaul with only 11 more games to go. I’d assume the majority of people have between 10-20 remaining. With little time left before the overhaul, I’ll try to comment on whether I’d look at including those who performed well last gameweek.

Goalkeepers

No team was able to keep back-to back clean sheets, and in fact 8 CS were kept out of a possible 40. Pope had a barnstorming week after going through a lean period. 25 points came from a pen save, MOTM, a clean sheet and two Tier 2 saves. Only the second goalkeeper assist of the season was made by Allison to help him return 14 points against Man Utd. The ever so consistent Henderson kept no CS but saved a pen in a MOTM display against Man City and returned save bonus in his two games. Gazzaniga had a brilliant game against Watford but his CS and pen save wasn’t enough to stop Lloris replacing him. Foster and Dubravka both kept a single CS along with save points in both games.

Looking forward I’d be looking at a cheap option or Allison. Henderson looks gold but you have to keep in mind he will have a blank and be ineligible when he plays Man Utd. Watford have been very impressive under Pearson too.

Defenders

Ricardo Pereira is so reliable. Without a single CS, he top scored at the back with a goal, assist and MOTM against West Ham. He’s left Soyuncu in the dust and it will be interesting whether he turns out to be better value post overhaul. The Liverpool defence were in the points again, with TAA assisting twice and VVD netting against Man Utd. However, the latter failed to return a double figure haul (2) for the first time since 4th December against Wolves. Ben Mee assisted in both of his games and was MOTM in his sides 2-0 win at Old Trafford. Aurier ended his string of blanks with a 17 pointer from his usual tackle bonus and his 6th assist. Mings £7.3m scored against Watford and made 60+ passes, but Villa’s lack of CS don’t make him a good option for me. His teammate Targett returned his 3rd assist and hit Tier 2 tackling and SoT bonus. Azpilicueta doubled his goal tally against Arsenal but similarly Chelsea can’t seem to defend. Holgate £6.1m looks a very good budget option after the overhaul but his initial fixtures are dreadful. He returned an assist and MOTM against West Ham.

Midfielders

It was definitely a week for the budget midfielders. Barnes seems to have nailed a spot in the Leicester side at £7.2m. He scored in both games assisted for the 7th time, returning 11 points in each. I never thought Henderson would be an option but he’s absolutely smashing it. He scored and assisted against Wolves and was MOTM against Man Utd. That also comes with consistent bonus week in, week out, all for just £8.4. Definitely one to consider for the overhaul. Arsenal’s winger Martinelli £6.3m scored in both matches and was MOTM in the London Derby. Traore picked up 3 assists in his 2 games, as well as his usual MOTM which brings him to 8 for the season. Speaking of MOTM, Grealish is another magnet picking it up twice along with another goal. All of these are on my radar for the Overhaul as this should be the place to save money. Noble and Jorginho both converted from the spot and picked up 3 bonuses between them. Redmond scored and assisted, while Armstrong £7.2m scored his second of the season for the Saints. Fleck £7m scored for the 7th time this season as well as his 5th MOTM.

Fernandinho and Jorginho hit passing bonus in both matches. Fred £7.9m made 3 successful tackles in both games, along with 70+ passes against Burnley.

Forwards

Jimenez scored on 3 occasions and was MOTM against Southampton and definitely one to consider for the overhaul will Wolves not blanking. Aguero continues to fire with a brace against Palace and a goal against Sheffield Utd. He’s owned by less than 30%. Perez went nuclear once again with a brace against West Ham for a 19 pointer during the week. Wood netted against Leicester and Man Utd along with an assist. He doesn’t have a terrible set of fixtures after the overhaul. Pukki scored from the spot in both games after going 5 games without a goal. Calvert-Lewin £8.8m continues to be consistent with a goal in both games but didn’t return SoT bonus in either. Firmino hit a double-digit score against Wolves with a single goal. Deeney and Vardy both missed penalties and the latter has been dreadful since Boxing Day.

Captain conundrums

GW25 Wednesday – Salah seems like a great option but Fabianski may be back. If he doesn’t play I’d probably favour an attacker. A defender is always a safe option but as we saw last game it’s possible for them to blank. TAA or VVD are still brilliant picks.

GW26 Saturday – A Liverpool player against Southampton. My thoughts are pretty similar as above.

Sunday – A Man City player against Spurs. If you own Aguero you might as well go for him, if not KDB. Aubameyang is a nice differential if you own him.
