Gameweek 8 Sky Tips – Fantasy Football Tips

It was a relatively low scoring week for most teams on Saturday with only Man City scoring more than twice. An Aguero benching and KDB knock would’ve been a disaster for some. Liverpool kow scoring win in the early KO would’ve also frustrated many manager who gave the armband to one of their attackers. Sunday was a big day for Leicester who put 5 past Newcastle. A clean sheet, passing bonus galore and a Vardy brace was paradise for some managers. Sunday was a bit of a dampener but an Aubameyang goal was really the only standout performer.

Goalkeepers

25% of side kept a clean sheet this week but over half of keepers kept clean sheets. Fabianski picked up an injury after he was going through a purple patch. Only Kepa and Adrian kept a clean sheet from the top 6 sides, so it was a good week for those with a budget keeper.

Defenders

It was a fantastic week for some wingbacks. Pereira kept a clean sheet, opened the scoring and hit Tier 2 passing bonus for a whopping 17 pointer. He also covers another single day and provides great value. His budget teammate Soyuncu and the rest of the Leicester defence hit at least 10 pointers with passing bonus against a 10 man Newcastle side. Doherty netted for the first time this season against Watford. The Liverpool defence kept their second clean sheet for the second time this season and all 4 of them made 70+ passes. VVD also won MOTM. Cresswell £7.4m scores for the second week running and made the most of his chance in the side.

Boly £8m and Palace’s Ward £6.5m hit tackle bonus for 4th and 3rd time this season respectively. Tomori reached Tier 2 passing for the second time this season and is proving to be a bargain if you need to save money at the back.

Midfielders

Jorginho and Milivojevic both netted from the spot this week and the former seems to have his sides penalty duties. Both were MOTM and the Chelsea man hit passing bonus, while Mili made tackle bonus. Mahrez was the top scorer in the midfield this week and has only not scored double digits once (4) when he’s started! He’s owned by less than 4%. McTominay £6.8m was MOTM Monday night after scoring a belter. McGinn is proving to be one of the most consistent value players in the game, he scored once and had one ruled out by VAR and was MOTM and he’s got Norwich next. Yarmolenko £7.8m scored for the third time in 4 weeks and has scored 11 points on each of those occasions. His upcoming fixtures are great too. Saka £5.2m started his second game of the season against Arsenal and grabbed an assist.

Leitner £5.2m is back starting for Norwich and reached 70 passes vs Palace. Capoue and Doucoure both surpassed Tier 2 passing bonus against Wolves. A surprising one Felipe Anderson £9.6m made tackle bonus for the third week running. Fabinho, Stephens and Tielemans were the only players to earn tackle and passing bonus.

Forwards

Vardy’s brace against Newcastle was the highest for forwards. His 2 shots on target both hit the net and hid a great option going forward. Bournemouth forwards Wilson and King were the only others in double figures with 10 points each. The former is in unbelievable form. Kane, Jesus, Aubameyang and Sterling all got on the score sheet but it was a quiet week for the premium forwards. Not one forward was awarded MOTM this week!

Captain conundrums

Saturday: Liverpool vs Leicester is the standout in the top 6 and the likes of Salah are much stronger at home. Leicester have been tight defensively so it’s going to be a tough test. Outside the top 6 McGinn has a tasty game against Norwich. Spurs play in the early kick off but are in shocking form.

Sunday: Arsenal and Man City are the standout options. You’ll be able to see if Aguero and Sterling start against Wolves and the Arsenal lineup vs Bournemouth. Aubameyang or one of the city players looks a no brainer.
