George Hirst – Fantasy Football Potential

Leicester City have announced the signing of 20 year old George Hirst. The young Englishman plays as a centre forward and I highly thought of, with his being the top goal scorer in the Under-20’s Toulon Tournament with England.

Former Leicester City boss, Nigel Pearson, was managing Hirst at Oud-Heverlee Leuven and stated that “he is a really promising player with lots of potential. He has had a year of catching up and I am sure next season he will do well at City.”

Player History

Hirst is a product of the Sheffield Wednesday youth academy, where he signed his first professional contract in 2016. He made his first team debut in August 2016 in the EFL Cup in a 2-1 defeat against Cambridge, whilst his league debut was against Reading later that year.

In June 2018, second tier Belgian side Oud-Heverlee Leuven signed Hirst. During the course of the 2018/19 season, Hirst managed to find the back of the net on 3 occasions and provide assists to 5 goals in 23 fixtures.

Internationally, Hirst has represented England at all youth levels and was the joint top goal scorer at the Under-20’s Toulon Tournament. Across all youth levels, Hirst has played 40 games, scoring 17 goals.

Fantasy Football Potential

The centre forward will initially join the Leicester City development squad, along with recent signings Daley-Campbell and Ali Reghba, with the potential to join up with the first team in the future. It is therefore highly unlikely that we will see George Hirst feature in Fantasy Premier League this season; however he certainly will be one to keep an eye on for the future.
