Gameweek 20 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

The festive games are coming thick and fast and we are now looking down the barrel at gameweek 20. The deadline is fast approaching, but before we look at this weeks captaincy picks, here’s a breakdown of how last weeks picks did:

1. Tammy Abraham – 2 points
2. Harry Kane – 8 points
3. Marcus Rashford – 6 points
Differential – Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7 point
Gamble – Jamie Vardy – 2 points

Fingers crossed for better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:

1. Kevin De Bruyne (SHU)

It’s now three consecutive returns for De Bruyne, scoring 28 points in that time. He’s owned by a whopping 50% of FPL managers too, making him vital for anyone who even wants to just maintain their overall rank! He’s proven to many how influential he is to this Man City side, providing nearly 20 goals or assists altogether this season, an unbelievable record considering only 19 games have been played! He was brought off a bit earlier against Wolves, proving to me that he should no doubt start in a few days time against Sheffield United.

2. Marcus Rashford (BUR)

He ended his mini-goal drought with a goal against Newcastle in a convincing 4-1 win last week, increasing his tally to 11 for the season, making this season his best so far in his career, and were only halfway through the current season! It shows how important he is to Ole’s side, and while Martial scored more points, I think Rashford is the more safer option to captain, as he was brought off earlier than anyone else last week, again suggesting that he too should be starting against Burnley!

3. Pierre Emerick Aubameyang (CHE)

It amazes me that no matter how many goals Aubameyang scores, his ownership just keeps decreasing, and is now only owned by 18% of FPL managers, remarkable for someone who is one of the leagues top scorers with 12 goals! A change of manager didn’t change anything for Aubameyang, showing how deadly he is infront of goal no matter who is in charge. They played a lot better than what they have done in recent weeks, and I thought they were unlucky not to come away with 3 points, and with Chelsea really struggling defensively, I think Aubameyang might fly under the radar for this week!

Differential – Dominic Calvert Lewin (NEW)

Two weeks in a row where I’ve opted for DCL as the differential, but I think he’s got potential of being a really good striker for Ancelotti this season. It always feels like he’s on the verge of scoring a hattrick every week, but I definitely think that he’ll get some goals this season. He scored terrific header vs Burnley last week, and looked as sharp as he has been these past few weeks. With only 2% of FPL managers opting to choose him, it’s a huge risk to captain him, but he’s in red hot form lately as is definitely over due a huge haul!

Gamble – Tammy Abraham (ARS)

If you want to be pedantic, realistically, everyone I’ve recommended could be considered a gamble this week! In the festive period, games come thick and fast and players need to be rested, and I think Vardy is certainly way overdue a rest. There’s only so much sprinting a 32 year old can do, and I think people forget how old he is! With only two days rest between games, and with Leicester’s being the late kick off, I can’t see Vardy starting this week, but that’s not to say he won’t feature. With Liverpool extending the gap between them, I think Vardy will feature, and he’s been in blistering form too, so don’t be surprised to see him on the bench but end up on the scoresheet too!
