Gameweek 23 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

After a short break from Premier League action, we are back too it. The deadline is as always, fast approaching, but before we look at this weeks captaincy picks, here’s a breakdown of how last weeks picks did:

1. Jamie Vardy – 5 points
2. Kevin De Bruyne – 9 points
3. Saido Mane – 3 points
Differential – Gerard Deulofeu – 2 points
Gamble – Richarlison – 10 points

Fingers crossed for even better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:

1. Sergio Aguero (CRY)

What an introduction back to the Premier League that was by one of the best strikers the league has ever seen! He came back, scored a goal, rested, then come back again to score a hattrick and an assist! It was a brilliant performance all round from Man City, in particular Aguero, and due to his injury, his ownership has fell massively to only 13%, an insanely low figure for someone of his calibre. He’s scored 13 goals this year in less than 1000 minutes of football, easily the best goal scoring record this season!

2. Tammy Abraham (NEW)

After suffering from a slight mini-drought, Abraham seems to have ended it after three successive games of either a goal, or an assist. He’s got the exact same record as Aguero funnily enough (13 goals, 4 assists), however has played considerably more minutes than the Argentine, but it’s still an impressive record for a young player! Chelsea take on Newcastle this week, a team who have only kept two clean sheets since the end of October, so I’m predicting there should be goals in this one, and hopefully Abraham gets on the scoresheet!

3. Jamie Vardy (BUR)

While he may have only got an assist, after two successive weeks of rest, the fact is, is that you can ignore Vardy, especially for captaincy! When a player is owned by more than half of the FPL population, ignoring him may be catastrophic for your rank! They take on a Burnley side who have surprisingly struggled at the back these last few weeks, conceding q7 goals in only 8 games, so don’t be surprised if Vardy ends up getting one or more this weekend!

Differential – Son Heung-min (WAT)

Another week where Son gets a red card, means more weeks of Son qualifying as a differential again! There was a mass exodus the last few weeks, as Son’s ownership dipped to 6%, but he’s still be a good asset to own this season, scoring 5 and assisting 9, and with Kane injured, I imagine that he may be used in a more attacking role these next few games! They take on Watford who have been reliable at the back under Pearson, but I have a feeling that Son may be overdue a week where he gets a huge haul!

Gamble – Mohamed Salah (MUN)

A fixture that always is unpredictable, no matter what year it is! England’s biggest footballing rivalry, and it will hopefully be a classic. Liverpool remarkably have won every single game this season bar one, which was against United, but even then I’d argue by saying they were unlucky to lose! Salah may be in really good form, but this game has had many twists and turns, and it’s such a hard game to predict, so I think it’s best to look maybe elsewhere for captaincy, but who knows, maybe Liverpool proves their dominance with a resounding win, if you feel confident, go for it!
