Gameweek 24 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

With just a days break, the Premier League is back and more importantly, Fantasy Football is back! The deadline is as always, fast approaching, but before we look at this weeks captaincy picks, here’s a breakdown of how last weeks picks did:

1. Sergio Aguero – 13 points
2. Tammy Abraham – 2 points
3. Jamie Vardy – 0 points
Differential – Son Heung-min – 3 points
Gamble – Mohamed Salah – 7 points

Fingers crossed for even better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:

1. Mohamed Salah (WOL & WHU)

A double Gameweek this early in the season, it’s like all of our dreams have been answered! The big question is though, who’s better to captain from the Liverpool side? Personally, I’d say Salah – he’s got three consecutive goal/assist returns, isn’t statistically having his best ever season, but 11 goals and 5 assists is certainly a good record for many players. As we all know Liverpool don’t leave any games without goals, and the two sides they play this week, Wolves and West Ham, have only kept 3 clean sheets combined since GW9! There are goals in this one, and hopefully Salah gets in on the action!

2. Sergio Aguero (SHU)

I’m not sure if people realise just how insane Aguero has been this year. Seriously, the numbers he is putting up are on some unbelievable charts – he’s scored 15 goals in only 1050 minutes, that’s almost a goal every 72 minutes! Since his return from injury, he’s scored 6 and assisted 1 goal, he’s only played three games! This week though they face a difficult task in trying to break down one of the best defences in the league, Sheffield United. Like with Liverpool, Man City never leave games without goals, and if Aguero carries this form on, I can’t see Sheffield United stopping him from getting on the scoresheet!

3. Raul Jimenez (LIV)

After a few successive weeks of blanks, Jimenez hit back with a brace to complete the comeback against Southampton, taking his tally up to 10 goals and 6 assists for the season. Wolves typically always play better against the big sides, and they’ll be hoping to pull of a big upset against Liverpool. They’ll be needing help from their main man upfront, and if he can continue from where he left off against the Saints, I honestly could see a shock result being pulled off!

Differential – Dominic Calvert-Lewin (NEW)

Another week goes by, another goal for Calvert-Lewin, his ownership stays the same, and he remains a constant differential for the rest of the season! That’s what I hope anyway, because he’s been magnificent these past couple of weeks, certainly since Duncan Ferguson temporarily took charge, and that continued when Ancelotti was the man who became the permanent manager. He’s still only owned by 8% of FPL managers, a very low ownership for someone with 9 goals and the only threat in this Everton side with Richarlison injured!

Gamble – Robert Snodgrass (LEI & LIV)

It was initially going to be Felipe Anderson for the gamble pick, however I’m not 100% sure if he’ll be starting this DGW, so I’ve opted for an even bigger gamble in Snodgrass. On paper, he doesn’t look flattering, but his underlying stats are actually impressive. He assisted last weekend vs Everton, taking his goal/assist tally to 4 in the last 6 weeks, he’s constantly on set piece duty, and is also in a DGW this week! He’s a huge gamble as the fixtures are tough (vs Liverpool and Leicester away), but with Leicester losing form, there could be a huge shock if Snodgrass performs this week!
