Gameweek 29 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

Gameweek 28 saw 4 teams blank, whilst some of the big guns decided to join in even though they had a fixture. Salah, Vardy and Mane, the top 3 picks all blanked. Lets hope for normal service this week! The deadline is as always, fast approaching, but before we look at this weeks captaincy picks, here’s a breakdown of how last weeks picks did:

1. Mohamed Salah – 2 points
2. Raul Jimenez – 7 points
Differential – Dominic Calvert-Lewin – 7 points
Gamble – Jamie Vardy – 0 points

Fingers crossed for even better returns this week, here’s our top picks for the up coming gameweek:

1. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (WHU & MCI)

Double GW’s are back everyone! And what better way of getting excited for them than captaining the man in red hot form, Aubameyang. His brace against Everton two weeks ago took his goalscoring tally to 17 for the season, making him the second highest scorer of the season. This week, they take on West Ham and Man City in a DGW, and with the main man De Bruyne (who’ll be talked about a bit later) listed as doubtful, you certainly cannot go through this week without considering him as captain!

2. Saido Mane (BOU)

No DGW for Liverpool, and despite being in poor form in the last two games, I do think Liverpool will bounce back with a convincing win against Bournemouth. The last time they lost at Anfield was in 2017, a small blip in form shouldn’t counteract weeks of record breaking wins! Mane is also one of the top scorers with 13 goals for the season and 8 assists this season, and has been in sensational form when playing at home, so definitely consider him for captaincy this week; his ownership has fell massively and could be someone who slides under the radar this week!

3. Dominic Calvert Lewin ()

Another week, another article, another paragraph explaining why Calvert Lewin really should be in your team by now. He’s still only owned by 14% of FPL managers, despite scoring 5 goals in the last 6 games. His form is definitely catching the eye of Gareth Southgate, and certainly should be catching your eye too! They take on Chelsea away this week, and on paper, it should be an easy Chelsea win, as Everton haven’t won in 26 years at Stamford Bridge, but like with Brighton, Chelsea have a poor defensive record, keeping only two clean sheets since GW12, and considering DCL’s magnificent form, I wouldn’t be surprised if he adds to his goal tally this weekend!

Differential – Diogo Jota (BHA)

3 goals and 2 assists in the last 2 games for Jota is eye-catching, what’s even better is that he did that while playing only 140 minutes combined in both games. Considering his form, he’s definitely one to keep an eye on, especially if you don’t own him just yet. They take on Brighton this weekend, a side that have only kept one clean sheet since GW11! He’s only owned by 7% of FPL managers, so definitely consider him for captaincy this week!

Gamble – Kevin De Bruyne (MUN & ARS)

Bit strange seeing the best player in the league feature as the gamble, but there is a reason for it! Firstly, his goals/assist tally this season is phenomenal, 8 goals and 18 assists is something that doesn’t happen often for a player who plays so deep. However, his injury to his shoulder midweek is definitely something to monitor, because we know how Pep is when it comes to rotation. I do think he’ll play on the Derby, but I don’t think he’ll feature twice in this DGW. He may surprise me, and considering his form, he arguably only needs one game to get a big haul anyway, but he’s definitely a big risk for this week!
