Gameweek 5 Captaincy Analysis – Fantasy Football Tips

The International Break is done and dusted and we are now looking forward to Premier League football being back, but as we all look to our fantasy teams, who should you captain?…

Before we look at this weeks picks, here’s how last weeks picks did:

1. Raheem Sterling – 3 points
2. Mohamed Salah – 3 points
3. Teemu Pukki – 2 points
Differential – Mason Mount – 2 points
Gamble – Harry Kane – 6 points

Fingers crossed for better returns this week, here’s our top picks for gameweek 5:

1.  Raheem Sterling (NOR)

He is in absolutely magnificent form so this can’t be a surprise to see him at number one! He scored twice and assisted four times in the two international games last week, not to mention the 5 goals he’s already scored in the League this season. 7 goals and 4 assists in 6 games! They take on Norwich this week who have yet to keep a clean sheet this season, and if sterling continues this fine form then I can see him getting a double digit haul this week!

2. Mohamed Salah (NEW)

Another player in fine form is Mo Salah. He’s scored 3 times and assisted twice this season in the first four league games, and we all know how good he is from the last few seasons he’s been in FPL! They take on Newcastle which may be a tough challenge, as they did beat Tottenham only a few weeks ago, keeping a clean sheet in the process too. However, how often do Liverpool fail to score in the league, and furthermore, how often does Salah blank!

3. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (WAT)

He started off this season fantastically well, scoring 3 times and assisting once, even despite two of those sides being against both Liverpool and Spurs! He’s less popular than the first two and is only owned by 20%, a relatively low number for a player who won the golden boot last season. They take on Watford this week who sacked their manager last week and have yet to win a game so far this season, and if they play how they did prior to the international break, I can see Aubameyang getting in the scoresheet!

Differential – Heung-Min Son (CRY)

He missed the first two games due to suspension from a red card he got last season, however he played magnificently well against Arsenal last week, and despite only getting one assist, it could have easily have been more. Spurs take on Crystal Palace this week, who are typically a lot stronger at the back against top 6 sides, however I still think that Spurs should be able to break them down, and if Son plays like he did last season, he could easily get on the scoresheet or even assist Kane, who has been in very good form!

Gamble – Richarlison (BOU)

I’m always reluctant to select Richarlison, because, and I’m 99% sure of this anyway, I don’t think he’s ever got back-to-back points hauls for Everton in the league, and the only time he’s ever scored in back to back games was in GW’s 15/16 last season, which isn’t great, hence why he’s a gamble! However, he was brilliant in their last game against Wolves and started to look like the player that Everton fans saw last season. They take on Bournemouth next week, which has been a goal-fest in recent years, so hopefully Richarlison can add to his tally!

That was our analysis of some of the key captaincy options, I hope you enjoyed it. Best of luck this week folks!
