FPL Updates XI – Gameweek 21 – FPL Tips

We’re officially past the half way mark of the season. I’m not overly happy with my rank and the initial impact of the wildcard has seen a 3rd consecutive red arrow. We’re back to where we were in GW6, just inside the top 800k. I’m happier with the squad after the wildcard, but there are a couple of players I’m looking at moving on soon. Let’s hope the new year brings better results.

Guaita could only muster a save point as Ings was gifted a glorious chance which he finished. Rico and Sidibé both blanked away from home and the former was forced off the bench as Soyuncu was rested. TAA made an impact straight away with a CS and a couple of bonus points.

The midfield ended up being a bit of a mess. Alli blanked at Carrow Road. He scored an offside goal but didn’t look that threatening. Grealish blanked and Villa look extremely poor at the moment. He got booked in added time to make it even worse. Cantwell came off the bench due to Vardy and he only made a 4 minute cameo against Spurs. Captain Salah blanked for the second week running as teammate Mané was the one to have this week. KDB returned once again with a goal and an assist.

Both strikers returned with Maupay assisting and Ings scoring yet again.

Transfers: Save

Apart from TAA I’m not overly confident in CS this week. Guaita travels to Norwich who have failed to score at home just once this season. Rico is away to West Ham who’ve a new(ish) manager in David Moyse and they’re struggling without Ake. Soyuncu and the majority of their starting XI are coming off the back of a rest which bodes well for their trip to Newcastle. TAA is at home to SHU and who aren’t bad on the road but failed to score against Man City last week.

Alli has a great record against Southampton, but this game may determine his fate in the side. Mr consistent KDB plays a stronger Everton side than GW7 when he assisted twice. He’s played a lot of minutes recently too, but I’m hoping he’s rested in the cup. Salah plays SHU at home and I really can’t see him blanking 3 weeks in a row! Sheffield Utd aren’t bad defensively and they’ve only shipped more than 2 goals on one occasion this season. Cantwell takes Grealish’s place due to his strong home record when he starts. Palace have kept 2 cleans on the road this season and Norwich will be desperate to win as they start a tough run of games.

Vardy is fresh after a rest last week as well as adding a new baby to the family. He travels to Newcastle who are struggling and his side are fresh for the tie. Ings and Maupay both face two big six sides at home, but neither defences are solid. Ings will be licking his lips against Spurs’ centre backs and Maupay will be thinking similarly with The Blues managing 1 CS on the road.

Captain: Vardy. Guaranteed to start and not a bad fixture. Keeping it simple but there’s plenty of options this week.
