Fantasy Football Potential – Davinson Sanchez

Tottenham have finally signed their first player of the summer, in the form of central defender Davinson Sanchez from Dutch outfit Ajax. The Colombian joins Spurs for a fee believed to be around £38 million and joins some other former Ajax players at the club; Christian Eriksen and Jan Vertonghen.

Davinson Sanchez played his football last season in the Eredevise with Ajax where his highlight of the season came in the Europa League final against Manchester United. The 21 year old played 45 times in all competitions last season, scoring a respectable 6 goals from defence.

Sanchez describes himself as:

“I’m strong in the tackle and I always try to play proper football. I think that those are my main characteristics. I think everybody knows what I can become and what I can bring to the club, such as my pace and my mental strength. I think that makes me a player that can make a big contribution for Tottenham.”

Fantasy Football Potential

Sanchez is priced at 6.0m on FPL which initially seems to be a hefty price considering the full backs are cheaper. Also, the South American may not be a guaranteed starter in Pochettino’s starting eleven, with the Belgian pair of Vertonghen and Alderwiereld having a fantastic partnership together.

However, if the Argentine manager does switch things up a bit, Sanchez could find himself in the Spurs starting eleven, meaning he could become a decent FPL option as Tottenham have one of the best defences in the Premier League.

Tottenham’s next five fixtures are as follows: Everton (A), Swansea (H), West Ham (A), Huddersfield (A) and Bournemouth (H). If Sanchez does feature in these fixtures then he could rack up a decent amount of points against this opposition.
