Fantasy Football Potential – Sam Clucas

Swansea have made another signing in the midfield department with the acquisition of Hull midfielder Sam Clucas, for a fee believed to be around £16.5 million. Clucas arrives at the Swans after an impressive break through season in the Premier League with Hull last campaign.

Sam Clucas has already played 3 games this season with the Tigers in the Championship before his return to the top flight. He featured in all but two of Hull’s relegation campaign last season, scoring 3 times in the process.

Here’s what Sam Clucas had to say about his move:

“I had a bitter sweet season last year with relegation. Because of my playing background, I never thought I would play in the Premier League so I relished every game I played. From the first time I kicked a ball in the Premier League it was a dream come true. Once you’ve had a taste for the Premier League you always want to go back.”

Fantasy Football Potential

Clucas is priced at 5.0m which makes him more expensive than Swansea compatriots Tom Carroll and Roque Mesa, meaning ownership and potential will be low. Also, he may not be as nailed on as the above mentioned to start in Clement’s starting eleven, but his price tag may disagree.

Also, he isn’t renowned for his goal scoring prowess from central midfield, but will the departure of Sigurdsson mean the midfielder plays in an advanced role for Swansea? If he does, that 5.0m price tag may become a bargain and a great option for a 4th or 5th midfielder.

Swansea’s next five fixtures are as follows: Newcastle (H), Tottenham (A), Watford (H), West Ham (A) and Huddersfield (H). These fixtures look very tempting for any Swansea players on FPL and if Clucas can start quickly with Swansea then he could be a good option.
