Fantasy Football Potential – Moritz Bauer

Stoke have signed defender Moritz Bauer from Russian League side Rubin Kazan for an undisclosed fee. The right back has four caps for Austria and has played almost 150 games in his career, including over a century of games in Switzerland.

Despite the huge amount of games he has played throughout his career, he still hasn’t registered a goal so far which suggests he is a defensive full back which may not be too great for FPL managers debating whether to bring him in.

Stoke City Chief Executive Tony Scholes said: “Moritz is a player we have been trailing for some time and was someone Mark Hughes wanted to bring into the Club. He’s a very highly-regarded player who broke into the Austrian senior side last year and he adds to the defensive resources at our disposal.”

Fantasy Premier League Potential

Bauer has been generously been priced at 4.5m, which makes him cheaper than most of the other Stoke defenders. He has already played twice in a Stoke shirt and has already kept a clean sheet, which came in their crucial 2-0 victory against Huddersfield.

The other match was less successful to say the least as they slumped to a 3-0 loss away at Manchester United. However he could turn out to become a great option if Paul Lambert can help solidify the Potters’ back line.

Stoke’s next five fixtures are as follows: Watford (H), Bournemouth (A), Brighton (H), Leicester (A) and Southampton (A). These matches are arguably the most favourable out of any team in the next five games so Bauer could well be on your radar and many others.
