Fantasy Football Potential – Renato Sanches

Swansea have completed the signing of Bayern Munich midfielder Renato Sanches on a season long loan deal. The Portuguese international only joined the German side last summer for a fee in the region of £27.5 million, which suggest he could be decent player.

Renato Sanches failed to make an impact at Bayern which has lead to his loan move to the Liberty. Swansea fought off the likes of AC Milan for his signature, albeit on a loan deal. Impressively, Sanches received the Young Player of the Tournament at Euro 2016, for his performances which lead to his country winning the competition.

Swansea manager Paul Clement said;

“Having moved from Benfica to Bayern Munich, he has not played as much as he would have liked. But this move to Swansea and the Premier League will provide him with a real positive development experience.”

Fantasy Football Potential

Renato Sanches has been priced at 5.0m. This price sent a few of the FPL community into raptures, believing that his price tag could be the bargain of the century, due to the pedigree of his signing. However, I’m going to burst their bubble and say that he will not score many more points as Tom Carroll this season, who is also cheaper.

He may be coming from huge club such as Bayern, and have that huge price tag attached to his name, but he has not grabbed too many goals and assists in his career. However, Clement may deploy him as an attacking midfielder which could make Sanches a good option.

Swansea’s next five fixtures are as follows: Newcastle (H), Spurs (A), Watford (H), West Ham (A) and Huddersfield (H). These fixtures are very winnable games for the Swans and could see Sanches get off to a good start.
