Fantasy Football Potential – Zlatan Ibrahimovic

Manchester United have resigned Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic after releasing the forward earlier this summer. Ibrahimovic initially looked like he didn’t have a future with United but Mourinho has made a u-turn regarding the striker, who impressed last season at his old age.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic proved he hadn’t lost it last season with a very impressive 28 goals in all competitions including vital goals in the League Cup final against Southampton. The talisman had also previously played for the likes of PSG and Barcelona where he grabbed a vast amount of goals.

In an exclusive interview, Ibrahimovic said his recovery is coming along well, insisting:

“When I come back to play football on the field, I will be better than before. I am not coming back because I am the one I am, I am coming back to be a better version of the old one. Imagine how that will be!”

Fantasy Football Potential

Obviously, Ibrahimovic’s potential when it comes to FPL will ride on how much game time the Swede will get in the upcoming season. First of all, Ibrahimovic was struck with a serious injury near the end of the last campaign which looks like it will still affect him for the first half of this season.

Also, since the return of Zlatan, Mourinho has splashed out £90 odd million on Romelu Lukaku, so even when Ibrahimovic returns, there is doubt that he won’t get sufficient game time for the Red Devils. This all obviously depends on where Mourinho sees him in the pecking order in comparison to the Belgian. His price on FPL is 10.0m, making him a great option if he does get regular football when he does return.
