FPL Updates XI – FPL Gameweek 29 – Fantasy Premier League Tips

Gameweek 28 was another good week for the FPL Updates XI, with our group of players scoring a respectable 58 points, 9 above the average. This gave the team a small green arrow as we now sit 45,517th overall with all the chips in play.

Before we look towards gameweek 29, here’s how the FPL Updates XI performed in gameweek 28:

Now that Elliot is unable to get into the starting XI at Newcastle, we are unable to bench the wrong keeper and no longer have to deal with the FPL Updates keeper curse! Nick Pope came in with 3 points, which could have been so much more hadn’t Bobby Madley got in on the action assisting Gabbiadini’s 90th minute equaliser.

At the back, our 3 defenders scored a combined 7 points which was somewhat disappointing as Andrew Robertson scored 6 of those on his own as he picked up an assist in Liverpool’s 4-1 demolition of West Ham. Charlie Daniels only played 45 minutes and conceded 2 in that time, giving him a grand total of 0 points, whilst Marcus Alonso played the full 90, conceding the same – 1 point.

You, the readers, successfully picked the correct player to captain, as Mohamed Salah brought us home a solid 20 points. Salah is now 50 points clear of any player in the dream team and has to be the first name on the team sheet in any fantasy team. Our Stoke duo saw mixed fortunes, as Eric Maxm Choupo-Moting blanked, whilst Xherdan Shaqiri continued his terrific form with his third goal in as many games. Finally, Richarlison only played 55 minutes which was somewhat of a disappointment.

Up top Harry Kane continued his goal scoring form with 6 points, whilst Roberto Firmino matched that but brought home 2 bonus points also. Callum Wilson disappointed against Newcastle and wasn’t involved in either of the two goals that Bournemouth scored.

Moving onto this gameweek, we have chosen to bank the transfer. With much uncertainty over whether fixtures will go ahead, we feel it will be wise to roll the transfer. The fixtures of those in the team aren’t too bad either:

With huge deliberation we have chosen to bench Elliot and play Nick Pope! In all seriousness, we are hoping that with the potential return of Tarkowski, Burnley may keep a home clean sheet against Everton.

At the back we are unchanged, with Andrew Robertson, Charlie Daniels and Marcus Alonso playing Newcastle, Leicester and Manchester City respectively. We could have chosen to double up with Ben Mee, however these three also have the potential to bring home some attacking returns, so we will run with this trio for the second week on the bounce.

One change in the middle of the park is that Raheem Sterling is back in for Choupo-Moting. Sterling was out injured and didn’t even make the squad against Arsenal, however he has been back in training and should make the squad against Chelsea. Mohamed Salah faces Newcastle and home, making him a popular captaincy selection this week (vote below!) and he’ll no doubt be one of the top two most captained. Xherdan Shaqiri and Richarlison finalise our midfield against Southampton and West Brom, fixtures which should be good enough to return some fantasy points.

Finally up top we are unchanged. Harry Kane plays Huddersfield at home, which is likely to be the other popular captaincy choice as he scored 2 in the reverse fixture. Roberto Firmino joins Salah with a fixture against Newcastle, whilst Callum Wilson is away to Leicester. All three forwards have fixtures in which they should be able to thrive and score some serious points.

With that all said and done the final thing for you to do is vote in our captaincy poll below…
