Arnaut Danjuma – Fantasy Football Potential

Bournemouth have signed Dutch winger, Arnaut Danjuma, from Club Bruges for a fee of £13.7 million. Bournemouth have reportedly been tracking Danjuma for a while and he now joins alongside; Lloyd Kelly, Jack Stacey and Phillip Billing who have also signed deals with Bournemouth this summer.

The 22-year-old mainly plays as a left winger/midfielder and here’s what he’s had to say about his move to the Cherries:

“The Premier League is a great place to play your football, especially at a club like this. I’m excited to be here. The last 24 hours have been a bit crazy but I’m delighted to be at the club and I’ve only heard positive things about it. I think the way the team plays suits my style, I like to attack and I cannot wait to get started.”

Player History

Danjuma is a product of the PSV Eindhoven youth academy, having joined then in 2008. The winger made his professional debut with Jong PSV, the PSV reserve team, in the Dutch second tier which ended up being his only appearance for the team.

In 2016, Danjuma signed for NEC Nijmegen, where it was expected that he would play for the reserve side, just as he did for PSV, however he went on to made his debut for the senior side against his former club, PSV. The 2017/18 season was arguably his best, with him playing 28 games, scoring 11 and assisting 17.

In 2018 he was then snapped up by Club Brugge and went on to play 12 league games, scoring 4 and assisting 3 others, whilst being ruled out for 18 of the games with injury.

Internationally, Danjuma made 4 appearances for the Netherlands under-21’s before making his senior debut in 2018 against Germany. He has subsequently played against Belgium also, where he scored his first international goal.

Fantasy Football Potential

With Brooks picking up an injury that is likely to keep him out for around 3 months, Danjuma may be seen as a replacement; however it may be Jordan Ibe that is favoured from the outset. Danjuma did play the full 90 minutes against Lyon, whilst Ibe played the full 90 against Lazio the day before, so this doesn’t provide too much insight.

Fantasy Premier League have priced Danjuma at £6.0m and classified the winger as a midfielder, the same as Ibe, however Ibe is priced at just £5.0m. It’s likely to be Ibe that starts the season due to his familiarity with the team, however going forward Danjuma will certainly have the chance to secure a spot in the starting XI and if he can find the form he has shown previously he could be a bargain at just £6.0m!

Bournemouth start the Premier League season with a favourable run of fixtures of; Southampton (H), Aston Villa (A), Manchester City (H), Leicester City (A) and Everton (H). These good fixtures continue up until gameweek 10, making Bournemouth assets very favourable, however if you are looking at a secure starter it may be worth looking towards the likes of Wilson (£8.0m), King (£6.5m) and Fraser (£7.5m) until the position of Danjuma is clear.
